SEATTLE – The Salvation Army Thrift Store, known world-wide for its furniture, clothing and household values, takes center stage this weekend with runway shows during the Northwest Women’s Show. The Salvation Army will highlight its second-hand fashions and accessories during two runway shows at Qwest Event Center, Saturday, March 5 at 4:30pm and Sunday, March 6 at 1:30pm.

The newly remodeled Salvation Army Thrift Store in Seattle’s SODO area will present the fashion show. All clothing and accessories in the runway show will be items from the store’s current collection – and thus, have been donated by members of the community. “We will surprise the audience with a show of contemporary fashions,” said Salvation Army Retail Manager David Puszczewicz. “We receive countless donations at our thrift stores, and many are great fashions at reasonable prices. “

Attendees at the Northwest Women’s Show can also shop at the mini Salvation Army boutique, ”The Good Store,” located at Booth #150. This temporary store will feature fashion and accessories for sale during the event. “We’re bringing some of our best merchandise to the Northwest Women’s Show,” said Mr. Puszczewicz. “The mini-store will give shoppers the experience of shopping at a Salvation Army Thrift Store – and the great values and one-of-a-kind items that can be discovered.”

The Northwest Women’s Show is the premier event for women in Western Washington. The annual event hosts exhibits, entertainment, and demonstrations in fashion, fitness, food, and more. The Salvation Army fashion shows and on-site store are included in the price of general admission to the Northwest Women’s Show; ticket and additional information is available at www.nwwomensshow.com.

>About the Salvation Army Thrift Store

The Salvation Army recently renovated its 36,000-square-foot flagship Thrift Store in Seattle, located on Fourth Avenue South, between King Street Station and Royal Brougham Street. The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center is solely funded by income generated through the sale of donated goods in its Thrift Stores. The Rehabilitation Center is a critical program for the area – providing jobs, residential housing, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean, wholesome environment. The physical and spiritual care that participants receive prepares them to re-enter society and return to employment. More than 86 percent of the graduates stay sober for 2.5 years or longer, and a majority of the participants reunite with their families and resume a healthy and independent life.

Cash and other monetary donations to The Salvation Army help continue its tradition in Western Washington by serving nearly 400,000 people annually, always meeting human needs without discrimination. Among the services offered in this region are rent/utility/gas assistance, food pantry, clothing, disaster relief services, day care centers, summer camps, holiday assistance, services for the aging, medical facilities, shelters for battered women and children, family and career counseling, vocational training, correction services, and substance abuse rehabilitation.
