Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
As you may already know our community has experienced a tragedy last Sunday through the pure act of evil from Josh Powell. Many of us, including me, may be asking "where was the Lord in this"? "Why did he allow this to happen"? I will be honest with you, if you were to ask me this, I would have to say that "I do not know".
But one thing I do know is that in the midst of tragedy and chaos God is still close to us. He was close to the people in the twin towers at the World Trade Center when the buildings collapsed. He is with the small home Christian church in China when members of the congregation are being arrested during worship time. He is with the Christians in Nigeria while the church is being set on filre by Muslim fanatics.
In Isaiah 6:1 it says when King Uzziah died "I saw the Lord seated on the throne". We may translate this into our experience this week. In the time when tragedy hits our community, "I saw the Lord sitting on His throne". Evil acts are the result of sin and sin is something which cannot be part of God. It is important for us as Christians living in this sinful world to recognize our God as King of Kings and Lord of Lords in our lives; by doing so we fight the evil and sin of this world.
What I also know is that God is the restorer of ruins and he will restore our hope, failt and the peace that the enemy of souls would steal. I want to encourage you to keep praying for the Cox family (boys' grandparents) since they have lost everything. Spend time on your knees on their behalf. Let us re-double our time and intensity in intercession to stop many more of the enemies' schemes.
Blessings,
